ARTIST STATEMENT
Life is full of fleeting moments. Children grow. Lovers leave. Seasons change. Through my photography, I document, savor, and save moments. Moments from my experience. Places I've been. Things I've seen. People I’ve encountered. That smile. Those eyes. That sunset. Those clouds. Although the initial impulse to capture an image is a selfish one based on my personal vision, it ultimately becomes an offering. I can share these images. They can move you. Inspire you. Make you view people and places from a different perspective. Here. Look. See! I say with my photographs. And then, instantly, my photography is not all about me anymore. It becomes about us all.
My work has been featured in BLACK: A Celebration of a Culture, I Got Your Back with Eddie Levert, Sr. and Gerald Levert, Adrenalized: Life, Def Leppard and Beyond, and Mfon: Women Photographers of the African Diaspora. My photographs have been exhibited at The African American Museum of Philadelphia, Corridor Gallery, Five Myles Gallery & Grand Army Plaza Library in Brooklyn, 40 Acres Art Gallery in SanFrancisco, and Leica Gallery in Manhattan. I have worked with clients including Akila Worksongs, AOL, American Black Film Festival, Brooklyn Children’s Museum, Essence Communications, GQ Media and PR, Hitachi Vantara, Live Nation, and Uniworld Group, among others.
